There are some new initiatives that Heritage Manitoba has been involved with that many communities could carry out, and which could ensure the ongoing success and excellence of any number of follow-up heritage activities. Doing these would ensure a consistent, comprehensive collection of high quality historical information.
These projects have been developed in partnerships between the Historic Resources Branch of Manitoba Tourism, Culture, Heritage, Sport and Consumer Protection and many members of Heritage Manitoba. The Branch has graciously allowed us to present here some of the key guides for this initiative.
Called Our Essential Past, the three main components of the project (events, people, buildings) are being used by many small urban and rural communities across Manitoba to develop the kinds of foundational information that will ensure excellence in any number of follow-up heritage activities.
